Piggy Power! (Harvest Dice)

We've chosen our close friends and neighbours, Clarke and Tara, to cohort with (I may be using that word wrong, but I hear it on the news all the time). Basically, they're the only family that we're really spending time with, going into their house, and playing together. Canada is slowly opening things up again, but we're still trying to be careful and safe.

On Victoria day we got together for a little appetizer potluck. Nothing like pizza bagels, chicken wings, and spinach dip to bring people together! I, of course, brought at least one game along in case the four kids were playing well enough that we could get a game going. This time I brought along Harvest Dice, which is a super simple, super cute roll 'n' write game.

You take turns drafting dice of three different colours - red (tomatoes), orange (carrots), and green (lettuce). You plant these vegetables in your garden, putting them in the proper plot based on their numbers. You can also choose to feed them to your pigs to get some piggy powers - the ability to add/subtract one from a dice or change it to a different colour. You score points based on the number of vegetables you have, how much you've fed your pigs, and how you've planned out your garden.

This is a great little game for low cost which comes with cute art, a decent amount of strategy, and is easy to teach to others. I got my curly little pink butt kicked, however. Tara won the day, with Sharayah taking second, and Clarke in third. They said this was just a practice game, so that doesn't count, right?
